Snow Possible Overnight: Special Weather Statement For NoVA, DC

There may be a "weak disturbance" that results in some snow overnight in parts of Maryland, according to the National Weather Service.

WASHINGTON, DC — Early commuters could see some light snow falling as a weak disturbance moving through the District of Columbia and norther Virginia means snowflakes are possible overnight, according to the National Weather Service. Since a coating of snow could accumulate on bridges and areas that are not paved, the agency issued a special weather statement Tuesday night for parts of Maryland, D.C., Virginia and West Virginia.

"The greatest risk is across northern Maryland, but it may extend south across eastern West Virginia, northern Virginia and central Maryland, including Washington DC," according to the National Weather Service.

A period of light snow could result in accumulations of less than 1 inch in some areas, according to the National Weather Service.
