Snow, Rain And 60 Degrees All In NoVA Weekend Weather Forecast
Virginia road crews are ready for a wintry mix early Friday; the weekend weather forecast includes snow, rain and a huge spike in temps.

WASHINGTON, DC — The weekend weather forecast for the Washington, D.C., region looks like a roller coaster with rain and snow, fog and then clear skies and springlike jump to highs in the 60s, according to the National Weather Service. Virginia Department of Transportation officials asked drivers be alert for the potential for snow and a wintry mix beginning early Friday morning through Saturday. Crews pre-treated areas prone to freezing on Thursday, and will stage along roads early Friday morning.
Light snow or a rain/snow mix is possible but little or no accumulation is expected in the I-95 corridor, including the DC metro area, the National Weather Service says. Look for a slight chance of snow before 10 a.m. then the precipitation shifts to rain and snow Friday with a high near 40. Overnight rain and snow mix before 10 p.m. with patchy fog after 1 a.m. As the weekend progresses it will feel like spring on Sunday with early showers possible, then highs in the mid-60s.
But first drivers have to watch for icy spots on Friday, especially in areas prone to freezing such as bridges, ramps and overpasses. Remember to drive for the conditions, the VDOT says: Reduce speeds, brake lightly and allow plenty of following distance. Also ensure enough gas, wiper fluid, proper tires, medication, and an emergency car kit.
