Summer 2019 Forecast Month-By-Month Issued For DC, NoVa

The summer 2019 forecast for northern VA, DC from the Weather Channel and the Farmers Almanac is out. Here's a look at the next 3 months.

WASHINGTON, DC — If you love heat and humidity — does anyone really like dripping with sweat the second you're outside? — then you'll love this long-range weather forecast for summer 2019 and into early fall. The Weather Channel released its mid-summer to early fall long-range weather forecast and it's calling for "above-average temperatures" for Virginia and the District of Columbia over the next few months. And the Farmers Almanac calls for "sweltering" summer weather with lots of thunderstorms.

In July, the DC region can expect "near- or slightly above-average conditions," according to the Weather Channel report. In August, the "above-average temperatures" return once again and this theme continues into September where "warmer-than-average conditions" are again expected for us.

The National Weather Service's long-range forecast also supports The Weather Channel's findings. The NWS is predicting normal precipitation over the next three months and above average temperatures for the same time period.

It appears, according to the NWS maps below, that the western and midwestern parts of the country are expected to see a lot of precipitation while the eastern states look relatively normal for the rest of the summer.

Above normal temperatures are expected for Southern Texas, the Gulf Coast states, and east of the Appalachian Mountains, the Weather Service predicts.

The Farmers Almanac released its summer 2019 forecast this week, which disagrees slightly with the other two forecasts. The publication says above-normal summertime precipitation is expected east of the Mississippi River. Lots of rain, thunderstorms, and humidity are likely during July and August in Virginia and DC, which will create "oppressively humid and uncomfortable conditions. So if you’re not a fan of muggy weather, you might want to be sure the A/C is tuned up and ready to go—it’s going to get quite a workout!"
