T.C. Williams Tops Woodson in Patriot District Opener

The T.C. Williams High School football team opened Patriot District play with a 21-14 win over W.T. Woodson Saturday at Parker-Gray Memorial Stadium, according to The Washington Post.

The Titans (3-1, 1-0 Patriot) ran out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter following an 11-yard TD pass from quarterback Darius Holland to Terry Jordan and a 77-yard punt return from Philip Tyler.

The Cavaliers (0-4, 0-2 Patriot) responded with a 17-yard touchdown reception from Jimmy McLaughlin in the second quarter to pull within 7.

Lamont Whiteside extended the Titans’ lead in the third quarter with a nine-yard TD run.

Woodson tailback China Moon made a 30-yard touchdown in the fourth, but the Titans held on for victory in a game that included multiple turnovers from both teams.

Titans cornerback Tim Rattanaphone picked off Woodson quarterback Patrick Reilly three times in the victory, including a game-sealing pick late in the fourth quarter.

T.C. Williams looks to stay undefeated in the Patriot District when it travels to Annandale on Friday, Oct. 4. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m.
