Try Transit Week — Stop by the Alexandria Transit Store (near the corner of Duke Street and Diagonal Road) from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. for free daily giveaways all week. Animal Shelter Discovery Time — An employee from the Alexandria’s Vola Lawson Animal Shelter will stop by Duncan Library (2501 Commonwealth Ave.) at 3:30 p.m. to discuss the animals they have at the shelter and their habits, care and training. The half-hour program is for children in grades K to 5.

Gad Elmaleh — This Moroccan and French stand-up comedian and actor, who appeared in Woody Allen’s wonderful “Midnight in Paris,” stops by The Birchmere (3701 Mount Vernon Ave.) for a French-speaking show at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $45. More information at The Birchmere website.
