Virginia Trooper Dermyer Funeral Arrangements Finalized

Virginia State Trooper Chad Dermyer was fatally shot during a training exercise Thursday at the Richmond Greyhound Station.

RICHMOND, VA – Funeral arrangements have been finalized for Virginia State Police Trooper Chad P. Dermyer, who was shot and killed in the line of duty Thursday at a bus station in Richmond.

Dermyer died at the hospital Thursday after being shot in the chest multiple times at Richmond Greyhound Station during a training exercise. The gunman, identified by Virginia State Police as James Brown III, 34, of Aurora, Ill., also died.

Visitation for Dermyer is scheduled for Monday from 3-5 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Liberty Baptist Church at 1021 Big Bethel Road, Hampton, Va. 23661.

The funeral is set for Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the same church. A private graveside burial in Gloucester County will immediately follow the service.

A vigil was held Friday night at the Stuart C. Siegel Center for the 37-year old, who was a husband and father.

A native of Jackson, Mich., Dermyer graduated in 2014 from the Virginia State Police academy. He was a former U.S. Marine and had served in the Corps for four years.
