What's Open, Closed For Presidents Day 2021 In Alexandria
Presidents Day brings numerous schedule changes in Alexandria. George Washington Birthday festivities are happening throughout the month.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Presidents Day, also known as the observed Washington's Birthday, will result in some service changes in the City of Alexandria.
In 2021, Presidents Day falls on Monday, Feb. 15. City of Alexandria government offices will be closed in observance of the holiday.
Alexandria typically has events throughout February to celebrate George Washington, who lived south of the city at his Mount Vernon estate and kept another home in Old Town. Although the George Washington Birthday Parade is canceled this year, there are other events being held virtually or with social distancing.

Below are the schedule changes to know around Alexandria for Monday, Feb. 15.
City of Alexandria government offices: Closed on Feb. 15.

Courts: The Alexandria Circuit Court Clerk's Office, Alexandria Circuit Court; Alexandria General District Court, Alexandria Juvenile Court, Domestic Relations District Court, and the Court Service Unit (at 520 King Street) will be closed on Feb. 15.
Schools: All Alexandria City Public Schools and administrative offices will be closed on Feb. 15.
Animal shelter: On Monday, Feb. 15, the Animal Welfare League (4101 Eisenhower Avenue) will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. by appointment only. To make an appointment, visit AlexandriaAnimals.org/Adopt-By-Appointment. For animal emergencies or wildlife concerns, call 703-746-4444.
DASH Bus: On Monday, Feb. 15, DASH bus service will operate on a Saturday schedule. The free King Street Trolley remains suspended until further notice due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Visit dashbus.com for more information.
Department of Motor Vehicles: The state DMV office located at 2681 Mill Road is open by appointment only due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Walk-in services are not available.
Health department: Alexandria Health Department (4480 King Street), the Flora Krause Casey Health Center (1200 N. Howard Street) and the Teen Wellness Center (3330 King Street) will be closed on Monday, Feb. 15. Health department COVID-19 case investigations and contact tracing operate seven days a week.
Historic Alexandria facilities: All Historic Alexandria museums and sites are closed until further notice due to the COVID-19 pandemic. For virtual resources, visit alexandriava.gov/Historic.
Hotlines: All emergency hotlines operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, including the child protective services hotline at 703-746-5800; the domestic violence hotline at 703-746-4911; the emergency services for mental health or substance abuse crisis hotline at 703-746-3401; the adult protective services hotline at 1-888-832-3858; and the sexual assault hotline at 703-683-7273.
Impound lot: The city’s impound facility (5249 Eisenhower Avenue) will be closed on Monday, Feb. 15. The Impound Facility is closed every Saturday and Sunday, and on observed city holidays. Fees accrue on Saturdays and Sundays but not on holidays.
Libraries: All Alexandria Library branches and the Alexandria Law Library (520 King Street) will be closed, along with talking books, telephone and curbside services, on Monday, Feb. 15.
Metro: Metrorail and Metrobus run on Saturday schedules on Feb. 15. Starting on Feb. 13, the Addison Road and Arlington Cemetery stations will be closed through May 23 for platform reconstruction and station improvements. Shuttle buses will run between Rosslyn, Arlington Cemetery and Pentagon and there will be no Blue Line service. Additional Yellow Line trains will operate from Franconia-Springfield to Mt Vernon Square.
Post offices: Closed on Feb. 15.
Recreation, nature and arts centers: On Feb. 15, Chinquapin Park Recreation Center & Aquatics Facility and the Charles Houston and Patrick Henry Recreation Centers will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. All other City recreation and nature centers will be closed. The Torpedo Factory Art Center will be closed on Feb. 15. For more information, visit alexandriava.gov/Recreation.
Trash and recycling collection: Residential refuse and recycling will not be collected on Monday, Feb. 15. Collection services will be delayed by one day during that week. The Household Hazardous Waste and Electronics Collection Drop-off Center (3224 Colvin Street) will be closed on Monday, February 15. Visit the Resource Recovery web page for more information.
Virginia Railway Express: VRE will not provide service on Monday, Feb. 15.
