ALEXANDRIA, VA — Prost! Oktoberfest season is upon us. Whether you've got a dirndl or lederhosen to wear or simply enjoy German food and beer, Alexandria offers a few Oktoberfest events. Inspired by the official festival in Munich, Germany, spinoff events typically run between Sept. 21 and Oct. 6.

  • Sept. 21: Oktoberfest at Village Brauhaus: This German and Austrian restaurant kicks off Oktoberfest with a Hofbräu München keg brought in from Germany, live music, a special menu and more. There are seven different kinds of Oktoberfest beers. Oktoberfest specials and live music will continue weekends through Oct. 20. 710 King Street
  • Sept. 21: Hops N Shine Oktoberfest Kickoff Party: The restaurant will kick off Oktoberfest with stein hoisting competitions, eating competitions, a ceremonial Hofbräu keg tapping, kids' games and more. Oktoberfest specials will be available for the season. 3410 Mount Vernon Avenue
  • Sept. 22: Alexandria's Historic Breweries Walking Tour: Celebrate Oktoberfest by learning about the history of breweries in Alexandria. Old Presbyterian Meeting House, 321 South Fairfax Street
  • Sept. 26: Oktoberfest at Theismann's: Port City Brewing Company will host an Oktoberfest celebration with a stein hoisting competition in the newly-renovated Theismann's. 1800 Diagonal Road A
  • Sept. 26: Campagna Center's New Neighbors Oktoberfest: Come out to Port City Brewing Company for a fundraiser to support the New Neighbors English Language Learner program, which helps immigrants and refugees. The event will have brews, German food and fun. 3950 Wheeler Avenue
  • Sept. 27: Oktoberfest: Trademark Style: Trademark Drink and Eat will pair food with brews from Port City Brewing Company and Old Bust Head Brewing Company. 2080 Jamieson Avenue
  • Sept. 28: Oktoberfest Outdoor Party and Celebration: Port City Brewing Company will celebrate its limited release Oktoberfest. Expect games, prizes, competitions, music, food and plenty of beer. 3950 Wheeler Avenue
  • Oct. 6: Oktoberfest at Immanuel Lutheran Church and School: The event will have German food, a biergarten, live music, a bake sale and family entertainment. 1801 Russell Road
  • Oct. 12: Oktoberfest Party at The Garden Del Ray: MaryAshley Real Estate Group will host this event, which includes activities and food for kids. RSVPs are requested by Sept. 30. 1503 Mount Vernon Avenue
  • Oct. 15: Senior Services of Alexandria's Oktoberfest: This fundraiser with beer and brewery tours supports Senior Services of Alexandria's programs and services for seniors, including the Senior Nutrition Program. 3950 Wheeler Avenue
  • Oct. 26: Oktoberfest & Trunk or Treat: Come out to Bethany Lutheran Church for food, a bounce house, crafts, a petting zoo, live music and more. 2501 Beacon Hill Road
  • Oct. 27: Basilica of St. Mary Oktoberfest Festival: The festival boasts German food, a full roasted pig, polka band, beer, a moon bounce and kids' crafts. 310 S Royal Street
