Falls Church City Sees 85 Percent Turnout for Election 2016

Election results included the passage of a referendum regarding issuance of bonds for Library renovation in Falls Church.

FALLS CHURCH, VA -- (UPDATE Wednesday morning): The previous City of Falls Church voter turnout percentage released was 77 percent. The actual turnout is 85.38 percent, the City announced Wednesday morning.

The previous number reported was of all registered voters, which could include a number of voters who have moved but not yet updated their information, and thus cannot be officially removed from the City's roster. The new number is closer to actual turnout: 9,206 Active Voters in the City and 7,860 voted on Tuesday, or 85.38 percent. This is close to the much-lauded turnout of the 2012 election, which was 87.43 percent of Active Voters.

Hillary Clinton and Don Beyer are the unofficial winners of the City of Falls Church presidential and House of Representatives elections, respectively.

  • Johnson: 3 percent

Member House of Representatives

  • Beyer: 73 percent
  • Hernick: 22 percent
  • Gracia: 4 percent
  • Constitutional Amendment 1 (regarding labor union membership): No 59%, Yes 41%
  • Constitutional Amendment 2 (regarding taxes for surviving spouse of certain personnel killed in line of duty): Yes 70%, No 30%
  • Referendum (regarding issuance of bonds for Library renovation): Yes 66%, No 34%

Other numbers:

  • 7,860 Total Voting Individuals
  • 10,249 Total Registered Voters
  • 76.69% of Registered Voters Voted November 8 (not a record turnout)
