Falls Church Schools Make Jan. 8 Weather Decision After Snow
Forecasters expect untreated surfaces to refreeze overnight after Tuesday's snow.
FALLS CHURCH, VA — Falls Church City Public Schools will open on a two-hour delay Wednesday, Jan. 8. The National Weather Service anticipates untreated surfaces will become icy overnight.
Day care will open at 8 a.m. with no drop-ins. There will be no early release — all schools will dismiss at the regular time.
Schools let out two hours early on Tuesday, Jan. 7 in anticipation of snow. Initial snowfall totals from National Weather Service spotters indicate 1.1 inches fell in Falls Church.

Snow has ended, but hazards have not. Patchy fog and icy spots will remain a risk through early Wednesday morning, mainly in locations where snow fell, so overnight motorists should continue to use caution.
