Falls Church Schools Staff To Be Vaccinated On Monday
The health department will be conducting vaccinations on Monday, covering the FCCPS staff of over 500.
FALLS CHURCH, VA — All of the Falls Church City Public Schools staff are set to be vaccinated after they became eligible in Virginia's phase 1b of COVID-19 vaccinations.
FCCPS spokesperson John Wesley Brett said in an email that some staff are part of the Fairfax County Public Schools vaccinations with Inova Health System. However, the majority of FCCPS teachers and staff will receive their first dose on Monday, Jan. 18 at the new George Mason High School. The Fairfax County Health Department will set up and conduct vaccinations at the school, which will cover the entire FCCPS staff of just over 500. The two COVID-19 vaccinations available in the U.S. require two doses, with the second taken three to four weeks later.
The vaccinations come as FCCPS started bringing back its first group of students, designated as special populations. A start date for additional groups has not been finalized. Superintendent Peter Noonan indicated the second group would remain virtual for at least the next week.
