Falls Plaza To Undergo Renovation, Add Outdoor Dining
The shopping center will get a new look and features like an outdoor fireplace.

FALLS CHURCH, VA — The Falls Plaza shopping center in Falls Church is slated to get a makeover.
Shopping center owner Federal Realty announced plans to renovate Falls Plaza, starting in spring 2021. The shopping center will get a fresh look and new features with an estimated completion date later in 2021 before Thanksgiving.
The renovation will give the shopping center a modern farmhouse design blended with industrial elements. There will be new facades, lighting, signage, and amenities including a fireplace, curbside pickup parking spaces, expanded sidewalks with outdoor dining, gathering space and new landscaping.

"Federal is a long-term holder of real estate and has been a part of the Falls Church community for over 50 years," said Deirdre M. Johnson, vice president of asset management for Federal Realty. "The new amenities and conveniences coming to Falls Plaza, such as spacious outdoor gathering pockets and dedicated 'Pick-Up' parking for easy grab and go, reflect the evolving needs of the community that we serve. We are appreciative of the continued support that both the city residents and officials have provided us over the past 50 years and we look forward to the next 50."

The 144,000-square-foot Falls Plaza is anchored by Giant Food with other retailers like Conte’s Bike Shop, CVS Pharmacy, Plaka Grill, Starbucks, Jersey Mike’s and C2 Education Center. Federal Realty acquired the Giant Food side of Falls Plaza in 1967 and acquired the property on the east side of Birch Street anchored by Staples and Road Runner Sports in 1972.
