Fatal Collision: Police ID Falls Church Victim
A woman was trying to walk across Arlington Boulevard early Monday when a vehicle struck and killed her, say Fairfax County police.

FALLS CHURCH, VA — The Fairfax County police on Thursday released the name of a pedestrian who died early Monday when she was hit by a vehicle on Arlington Boulevard. Her name is Dayssy Avalo, 36, of Falls Church, the police said.
The accident occurred at about 2 a.m. Monday on Arlington Boulevard (Route 50) near Graham Road inside the Beltway (Interstate 495). Avalo was crossing Arlington Boulevard when a westbound car struck her. She was outside the crosswalk, the police said.
The unidentified driver stayed at the scene to cooperate with the police investigation of the collision. The police said they did not believe speed or alcohol contributed to the crash for the driver. No charges were expected.
