Lidl Opening New Location In Merrifield

MERRIFIELD, VA — Lidl, a German discount grocer with U.S. operations based in Arlington, Virginia, will open its latest location in Merrifield on Wednesday, June 30.

The store will be located at 2901 Gallows Road, Falls Church. A ribbon cutting ceremony with community leaders will be held between 7 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. on June 30.

"I welcome Lidl to the Merrifield area and look forward to the grand opening," said Providence District Supervisor Dalia Palchik. "I am confident that this new Lidl store will serve the local community and join the diverse businesses representing our vibrant community here in the Providence District of Fairfax County."

At the grand opening, the first 100 customers will get a gift card with a value ranging from $5 to $100. Shoppers can also enter to win a $500 gift card and other giveaways and score grand opening specials.

Lidl will also donate 50 cents to Capital Area Food Bank for every new myLidl member who signs up and sets the new store as their home store.

Lidl offers a variety of products at discount prices, including its own private label products. Most of the products are American, but Lidl also offers European specialty items ranging from cheeses to authentic specialty sauces, cured meats, and more. A rotating selection fo food and non-food specials will be available for a limited time, starting on Wednesdays. Non-food items can include fitness gear, small kitchen appliances, toys, outdoor furniture and more.

Lidl operates around 11,200 stores in 32 countries. The U.S. headquarters in Arlington County, Virginia was established in 2015, and Lidl now has over 150 stores in nine East Coast states. There are 12 stores so far in Northern Virginia.
