Metro Signs Contract To Replace 130 Escalators At 32 Stations

Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority has signed a contract with KONE to replace 130 escalators at 32 Metro stations, according to a release. The seven-year, $179 million contract will see the continuation of a decades-long program aimed at replacing and restoring the oldest and least reliable escalators in the transit system.

Virginia Coronavirus Vaccine Hotline Joins Statewide Online Form

At a Wednesday news conference, Gov. Ralph Northam said 240,000 Virginians have preregistered for the COVID-19 vaccine since the launch of the centralized preregistration system Tuesday. The governor also announced the launch of a COVID-19 vaccine hotline.
