Police Seek to Identify Alleged Credit Card Thief in Falls Church Area

The suspect stole the wallet of a woman at a restaurant and used the credit cards to make thousands in purchases at area stores.

FALLS CHURCH, VA — Fairfax County police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a woman who used stolen credit cards to purchase more than $2,400 worth of merchandise at three area businesses.

The victim, a 47-year-old woman, reported that her wallet and credit cards were stolen from the La Madeleine restaurant, located at 5861 Crossroads Center in Falls Church, on Saturday, July 16 between 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

An investigation determined another woman allegedly stole the wallet from the victim’s purse, then used the credit cards the same day to make fraudulent purchases at nearby Target, Best Buy and Toys R Us stores.

The suspect was described as white, in her late 30s to early 40s, approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall and 160 pounds, with dark brown hair. She was wearing a white sleeveless shirt, blue jeans and white shoes.
