Presidential Primary 2020: Deadlines To Know In Falls Church
We've rounded up the timeline for absentee voting, candidates and more information for Falls Church voters.
FALLS CHURCH, VA — Super Tuesday is rapidly approaching, and City of Falls Church voters can prepare by checking deadlines, voter registration status and other information. The Democratic presidential primary election will be held on Tuesday, March 3. Republicans will not hold a primary and will instead choose delegates to send to the national convention.
Below are dates to know and other guidelines for absentee voting and preparing for Election Day. (Fairfax County residents can find their election information here.)
In-Person Absentee Voting

The first date to know is Jan. 17, which is the start of in-person absentee voting for residents with a valid excuse. Falls Church voters can vote absentee weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Office of Elections in City Hall, 300 Park Avenue, Falls Church, starting on Jan. 17. City government offices are closed Jan. 20 for Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Feb. 17 for Presidents' Day. The deadline for in-person absentee voting is Saturday, Feb. 29.
An acceptable form of photo identification is required for in-person voting, including absentee. Residents can contact the Office of Elections for a free voter ID.

Absentee Voting By Mail
If you're requesting an absentee ballot by email, the deadline for the Office of Voter Registration and Elections to receive the application is Tuesday, Feb. 25. The quickest way to submit an application is online at vote.elections.virginia.gov, but voters can also print and complete a paper application and return it in-person or by mail to the Office of Elections, 300 Park Ave, Falls Church, VA 22046.
Voters will be sent their absentee ballots within two business days of the application being accepted. Absentee ballots must be returned to the Office of Elections by 7 p.m. on Election Day, March 3 in-person or by mail.
Voter Registration, Candidates and Election Day Voting
The deadline for voter registration or updating your voter registration is Monday, Feb. 10. Check your registration status or register at vote.elections.virginia.gov. You can also apply at the Office of Elections or pick up a paper application to mail at City Hall 300 Park Ave. Falls Church, VA 22046, or Mary Riley Styles Public Library 120 N. Virginia Ave. Falls Church, VA 22046.

Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3. Check Falls Church polling places or find your polling place at vote.elections.virginia.gov.
An acceptable form of photo identification is required to cast a ballot on Election Day. If you don't have an acceptable photo ID at your polling place, you can cast a provisional ballot and be given further instructions to ensure your vote counts.
