Rescue Pet To Go On 'Dogventure' At Falls Church Businesses
You may spot rescue dog Ariel in Falls Church for the 1,000th "Dogventure" this weekend.

FALLS CHURCH, VA — The shelter can be a scary or stressful place for a pet waiting to be adopted. That's why a local rescue group has a program for dogs at Seven Corners Animal Care Center to get out and have fun.
On Saturday, Oct. 5, Lost Dog and Cat Rescue Foundation will hold its 1000th Dogventure—an outing for rescue dogs—of 2019. Ariel, one of the group's longest-stay rescue dogs, will be participating. The outing will include hiking, a spa bath, a party with human and dog treats, and visits to Falls Church businesses such as Kiln & Custard and Falls Church Distillery.
Dogventures can last from one hour to an overnight trip. Activities have included a beach and lake trips, sleepover in a home, hikes, and dinners at pet-friendly restaurants.

The program aims at reducing kennel stress and increasing visibility of adoptable rescue dogs. For people, it's an opportunity to sign up and take a rescue dog out for a few hours.
"Dogventures are a really important part of what we do," says Barbara Hutcherson, the executive director of Lost Dog and Cat Rescue Foundation. "When people take a dog out for a day, or even a few hours, we learn so much about them, and are so much better able to help potential adopters make a good match with that knowledge."

Ariel, a medium-sized dog, is one of the available pets from Lost Dog and Cat Rescue Foundation. She is muscle tone deficient on her back end, potentially caused by a car hitting her. Nevertheless, she's been working on physical therapy and rocks a colorful diaper on her Dogventures. See her full adoption profile here.
