Route 50 Improvements In Falls Church Area To Be Studied
Do you travel on Route 50 (Arlington Boulevard)? VDOT has opened a survey on concerns with the congested road.

FALLS CHURCH, VA — If you have concerns about travel on Arlington Boulevard (Route 50) in the Falls Church area, now's the time to share them. The Virginia Department of Transportation has opened a survey on potential improvements along a portion of Arlington Boulevard.
The study area is around three miles of Route 50 between Wilson Boulevard and Jaguar Trail. According to VDOT, this section has long backups and delays during peak travel periods, particularly around traffic signals. An estimated 54,000 vehicles travel on this stretch each day.
The study aims to identify cost-effective improvements to bolster safety and reduce congestion. Potential improvements could be improved signal timing, turn lane improvements, turn restrictions, access management, pedestrian improvements and innovative intersections.

An online survey is open through Oct. 31. Respondents can rank their top concerns with this portion of Route 50, as well as map spots where issues occur.
A public meeting is planned for Monday, Oct. 21 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Falls Church High School, 7521 Jaguar Trail, Falls Church, VA. A presentation will begin at 7 p.m.

Residents can submit comments at the meeting or mail them by Oct. 31 to Mr. Bobby Mangalath, Virginia Department of Transportation, 4975 Alliance Drive, Fairfax, VA 22030.
