SEVEN CORNERS, VA — Transportation officials are looking to determine the order of planned improvements at the Seven Corners interchange, where seven roads meet.

The Fairfax County Department of Transportation is seeking to enhance bicycle, pedestrian and transit access and connectivity at Seven Corners as well as improve traffic flow. Officials have identified planned improvements but are seeking input on the order in which they should be done over 15 years. The improvements had been part of Seven Corners Comprehensive Plan Amendment adopted in 2015.

The planned improvements include:

  • Creating a four-way intersection at Leesburg Pike and Wilson Boulevard/Sleepy Hollow Road.
  • Building a new "ring" road to connect Route 7 (on the side with the bus transfer station) to the intersection of Wilson Boulevard and Roosevelt Boulevard crossing over Route 50.
  • Widening Route 50 to six lanes from the Arlington/Fairfax County line, westward, close to South Street.
  • Building new ramps that connect Route 50 to the new "ring" road on each side of the new four-way intersection of Route 7/Wilson Boulevard/Sleepy Hollow Road.
  • Constructing a new road that connects the Willston Multi-Cultural Center and Village Center to Route 7.
  • Creating a better connected road network with redevelopment.

Residents who drive, walk, bike and take public transit around Seven Corners are encouraged to provide feedback on how travel through the intersection and where and when they experience delays. This feedback will help officials decide which transportation infrastructure to build first. The transportation department will provide an update on the study and seek public input at virtual meetings on Feb. 3 and 4. The meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 3 at 7 p.m., will be held in English, and the meeting on Thursday, Feb. 4 at 7 p.m., will be held in Spanish.

Residents can participate in the virtual meetings through Webex:
