VIRGINIA — Northern Virginia and other areas see the first major snowstorm of 2021 with anywhere from 4 to 14 inches possible from Sunday through early Tuesday.

The steadiest snow will fall through Sunday afternoon before changing to a mix of light snow, sleet and freezing rain, according to the National Weather Service. Additional snow could come Monday through Monday night. Western Loudoun and other areas west of the immediate DC region could see heavy mixed precipitation with 8 to 14 inches of snow. Prince William County, eastern Loudoun, Manassas, Manassas Park, Fairfax, Arlington County, Alexandria and Falls Church are expected to get 4 to 6 inches through Sunday night and an additional 1 to 3 inches Monday.
