Sinkholes, Flooded Roads Impacting Falls Church
Here's the latest on flooded roads and other impacts from the heavy rain Monday morning in Falls Church.

FALLS CHURCH, VA—After heavy rain in a short time caused flooding, the City of Falls Church is reporting several sinkholes and road closures Monday morning. Officials also warn of flooding in homes.
The National Weather Service reported at 10:19 a.m. that the heavy rain has ended but flooding is ongoing. The area under the flash flood warning received three to five inches of rain Monday morning. The flash flood warning for Falls Church is extended through 1:45 p.m.
At least three sinkhole locations were identified in Falls Church. Drivers are asked to avoid the sinkholes and to not drive around them. Officials warned manhole covers could be displaced as well.

The locations are:
- South Oak Street and Timber Lane
- Grove Avenue at Chestnut Street
- Hillwood Avenue at Linden Lane

Areas near creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses, drainage areas and low-lying spots are susceptible to flooding. If flooding occurs at your home, the city offers these tips:
- Do not go in your basement. There is an electrocution risk as well as sewage contamination risk. Keep pets, children, and everyone away.
- Call your insurance company.
- Call Dominion Energy at 866-366-4357 for help with your power.
