Snowfall Totals Around Virginia: Higher Amounts Outside DC Region
The National Weather Service's trained spotters recorded higher amounts in the Shenandoah Valley than the immediate DC region.

VIRGINIA — Super Bowl Sunday arrived with snow for Northern Virginia and other areas of the state. Higher totals could be found outside the immediate DC region.
The National Weather Service has released preliminary snowfall totals from employees, trained spotters and airports on Sunday, Feb. 7. The highest totals for the Baltimore-Washington office's coverage area reached 6 or more inches along the Shenandoah Valley/I-81 corridor southwest of the immediate DC region. Northern Virginia's localities had totals ranging from a trace in Arlington County to over 4 inches in Loudoun County.

Residents should continue to monitor the forecast for additional winter weather threats this week. The National Weather Service puts the region under a hazardous weather outlook due to a light wintry mix in northern Maryland on Tuesday morning. Forecasters expect a "slight winter storm threat" Wednesday and "enhanced winter storm threat" Thursday.
