Snowfall Totals For NoVA, DC; Winter Weather Advisory Monday
Areas outside the immediate DC region reported higher totals. More precipitation is expected Monday.

WASHINGTON, DC — Sunday's winter storm brought measurable snow to the DC and Northern Virginia areas, and more precipitation is expected Monday.
The National Weather Service has released preliminary snowfall totals for Jan. 31 from trained spotters. The highest totals for the Baltimore-Washington office's coverage area were 10 inches in and around the West Virginia panhandle. The immediate DC region largely recorded snowfall in the 2 or 3-inch range. Loudoun County had the highest total in Northern Virginia with 4.5 inches in Hillsboro.

The region remains under a winter weather advisory through Monday as mixed precipitation continues. The National Weather Service expects additional snow accumulations up to one inch and ice accumulations up to one tenth of an inch on Monday.
The Virginia Department of Transportation encourages drivers to avoid nonessential travel Monday morning. Although major routes are clear in Northern Virginia, VDOT says freezing temperatures, freezing rain and drizzle could make wet surfaces icy. For real-time road conditions, check www.511virginia.org.
