Suspect in Possible 11 Armed Robberies Apprehended in Bailey's Crossroads: Police

Police staked out Bailey's Crossroads area early Saturday and caught suspect they say could be responsible for 11 armed robberies.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA -- Fairfax County Police have apprehended a suspect they say may be responsible for 11 street robberies in Bailey's Crossroads. Police say that early Saturday in the area of Bellview and Glen Carlyn Drive (see map below), officers and detectives were in the area investigating a recent string of robberies.

At about 2 a.m. Saturday, police saw a man acting suspicious and consistent with the description of the suspect in the prior crimes. Officers saw him approach two people and display a knife and a broken bottle, police said. The suspect demanded the victims’ wallets and subsequently cut one victim on the arm with the bottle, according to police. Officers immediately challenged the suspect and took him into custody.

Further investigation revealed the suspect may be responsible for 11 street robberies, according to police. Carlos Turcios Canales, 39, of Falls Church was arrested, taken to the Adult Detention Center and charged with two counts of robbery and malicious wounding. The victim was treated for minor injuries.
