Swim and Dive Team Sends a Large Group From Falls Church High

All five captains made it to states this year

The Jaguars had a great Swim and Dive season at Falls Church High School and sent a large group on to States. Earlier in the season, at the conference meet, the girls came in 2nd place and the boys in 3rd. Sophomore Kyle Major broke two individual team records in the 200 Free and the 500 Free. The girls’ team broke 2 relay records- the 200 medley relay and the 200 free relay. The boys broke the 200 medley relay school record. As the Jaguars progressed to Regionals, the boys finished 7th and the girls finished 4th- great program-wide success and the setting of the stage for an elite group of athletes that qualified for States.

At States this year, the girls team had an incredible performance. Going up against the best out of thousands of athletes in the state, the girls placed 3rd in the state in the 200 free relay. And a true sign of dynamic leadership, all five captains made it to states this year: Julia Schwartz, Haley McLean, Charlotte Roberson, Eric Schwartz, and Andrew Jackson. And, a testament to what the future brings, freshman John Carlin also made it to states as both a diver and as a swimmer—a remarkable feat—and finished 7th . Tucker Smith, also competing as a diver at states, was the State Runner-Up in the boys 1M Dive. Jojo DiScipio also qualified for States and represented the girls team in the 1M Dive. The Jaguars also had three athletes qualify in two individual events and two relays- the maximum number allowed at states- Kyle major, Sammie Carlin, and Anna Landon.
