Taste Of Falls Church 2019 Winners Announced
Judges named winners for best overall menu and best taste, while the people's choice award was a tie.
FALLS CHURCH, VA — The winners of the 2019 Taste of Falls Church have been crowned. The event was held during the Falls Church Festival on Saturday, Sept. 14.
El Patron Bar & Grill took the award for best overall menu with a selection of tacos and pupusas. Famille at the Kensington won best overall taste after judges heard how the chef maintains flavor and quality while meeting the dietary of Kensington's assisted living residents. The people's choice, determined by votes cast online, went to Café Kindred for chicken and waffles and Clare and Don's Beach Shack for hot dogs and ice cream.
Judges determined the winners for the best overall menu and best taste after trying 55 samples. Judges were former Falls Church Mayor Nader Baroukh, Falls Church Education Foundation executive director Debbie Hiscott, Falls Church Education Foundation president Cecily Shea, Mayor David Tarter, and Culinary executive chief and VP Jason Tepper.

The Falls Church Festival, an event with food, rides, vendors and music, saw record attendance and sales in 2019. Restaurants participating in Taste of Falls Church were: Audacious Aleworks, Bakeshop, Café Kindred, Clare and Don's Beach Shack, Dogwood Tavern, El Patron Bar and Grill, Famille at The Kensington Falls Church, FC Distillers, Hot N Juicy Crawfish, Liberty Barbecue, Open Road Grill, Peet's Coffee, Rare Bird Coffee Roasters, Robeks Fresh Juices and Smoothies, Sweet Rice Thai and Taco Bamba.
