Thomas Jefferson, George Mason High Are Best In VA: Report
High schools in Fairfax County, Falls Church top this year's U.S. News list of the best high schools in Virginia.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — More than a dozen high schools in Northern Virginia rank among the best in the commonwealth, according to 2018 rankings released Wednesday by U.S. News & World Report. Topping the list of Virginia schools is Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology, and number two is George Mason High School in Falls Church
The 2018 best high school rankings were released on Wednesday and evaluate more than 20,500 public high schools across the country. U.S. News identified schools that best serve all students and assessed how prepared students are for college-level work.
Schools are recognized with gold, silver and bronze medals, with gold indicating the greatest level of college readiness.

Thomas Jefferson High, a Fairfax County magnet school in Annandale, and George Mason High, part of the city of Falls Church's school system, earned gold medals. Seven other Fairfax County high schools brought home the gold: Langley, McLean, Oakton, Woodson, Marshall, West Springfield and Lake Braddock. Washington-Lee High School in Arlington also earned a gold medal.
