Virginia Weather Forecast: Nor'easter Could Bring Snow, High Winds By Monday Night
A nor'easter is likely to take shape early in the week, bringing snow to parts of Northern Virginia, forecasters say.

Winter will return to Maryland, bringing heavy snow and strong winds by Monday night as a powerful "Nor'easter" storm moves across the state. The odds on whether the Baltimore and Washington, D.C., areas receive an inch of snow or up to 6 inches of powder are iffy at this point, more than 48 hours out from the storm's arrival.
The storm is likely to tie up airline traffic from Washington, D.C., to New York City and Boston early next week as winter re-emerges. Areas of northwestern Virginia to northern Maryland, along with central and eastern Pennsylvania, parts of New Jersey, and sections of New York state and New England should expect to receive 6 inches or more of snow from the storm, says AccuWeather.com.
The Capital Weather Gang cautions that snowfall estimates are vague as of Saturday afternoon.

"We could see a major storm from the Districtto New England, with heavy wet snow and strong winds that might cause power outages. That said, forecast confidence remains low at this time, and potential accumulations in the D.C. metro area range from just a little to a lot," the Post report says.
Snow should start falling after Monday night's commute and continue into midday Tuesday. Computer models disagree on the storm's likely path, which greatly affects how much falls as snow vs. rain and where. The Capital Weather Gang says areas north and west of the District have the best odds for the most snow. Areas from D.C. to the south and east could also see significant snow, but have a strong chance for much of it to fall as rain.

The National Weather Service puts the chance of precipitation, most likely snow, at 100 percent for Monday night with winds gusting as high as 21 mph. Snow will continue to fall Tuesday, with a high near 38.
WBAL in Baltimore says heavy snow is possible especially north and west of Interstate 95. The station says 4-8 inches of snow could fall by Tuesday morning depending on the storm's still-unclear path.
Look for snow to begin Monday night, turn to a slushy mix early Tuesday, then switch back to snow by Tuesday night, says WBAL.
