Winter Weather Closures Continue For Falls Church Government

Falls Church offices are closed, and snow emergency routes are active in the city.

FALLS CHURCH, VA — Due to the winter weather, City of Falls Church government offices and Falls Church City Public School buildings are closed on Thursday and Friday.

The city government closures apply to City Hall, the Community Center, Mary Riley Styles Library and courts on Thursday, Feb. 18 and Friday, Feb. 19. City employees may take liberal leave after consulting with their supervisor, while emergency employees will report for work. Virtual services are available at www.fallschurchva.gov/Online.

Falls Church City Public Schools buildings are closed. All cohorts of students will have virtual learning on a normal schedule on Thursday and Friday.

City officials urge residents to stay home and off the roads due to icy conditions. The city activated snow emergency routes as of 9 p.m. Wednesday until further notice. Snow emergency routes are intended to be open for first responders, public safety officials and snow crews and are prioritized for priority for salting, sanding and plowing. Residents and visitors are not permitted to park along these routes during a declared snow emergency. Vehicles parked on snow emergency routes could be subject to ticketing or towing.
