County Seeks Input On Improving Local Fairfax Connector Service
Fairfax County Department of Transportation is asking Herndon and Reston residents to provide input on its plan to improve bus service.

HERNDON, VA — This may be the final chance for Herndon and Reston residents to tell the Fairfax County Department of Transportation how to improve bus service in the area.
FCDOT has already conducted two rounds of community input on its plan to improve Fairfax Connector bus service in the Reston and Herndon area, including connections to the upcoming Metrorail Silver Line Phase 2 stations.
FCDOT's plan includes new and more direct connections and routes, as well as new connections to Chantilly, Centreville and the Dulles Corridor. Implementation of the plan will coincide with the start of new Silver Line service.

Metro General Manager Paul Wiedefeld told a D.C. Council committee in February that the new Silver Line stations would not be opening at least until mid-2021.
The five operating stations on the Silver Line — West Falls Church, McLean, Tysons Corner, Greensboro, Spring Hill and Wiehle-Reston — were closed in April as part of Metro's summer platform rehabilitation project. Last week, Metro announced those stations would have restored train service on Aug. 16.

FCDOT will finalize its service plan once it has received the last round of community input. It will then submit its plan to the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors for final approval. The deadline for submitting input is midnight on Friday, July 17.
Supervisors Walter Alcorn (Hunter Mill) and John Foust (Dranesville) are hosting a virtual public meeting on Wednesday, July 8, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. The meeting will include a presentation on the plan, as well as a chance for the public to offer feedback and ask questions.
The public can also provide input by taking an online survey in English or Spanish. They can also email comments to fairfaxconnector@fairfaxcounty.gov; call Fairfax Connector at 703-877-5600, TTY 711; or mail comments to Fairfax County Department of Transportation, 4050 Legato Road, Suite 400, Fairfax, VA 22033.
FCDOT has also posted a video presentation on its official YouTube channel:
