Document Shredding And Food Collection Event Is Well Attended

Assistance League and Franklin Farm Social Committee Combine Efforts to Support Local Needs

Assistance League of Northern Virginia is gratified by the success of its first-ever paper-shredding event. The chapter partnered with the Franklin Farm Social Committee for a three-in-one combo in which participants could donate to support the chapter’s philanthropic programs, provide much-needed food items for a local food pantry, and dispose of important papers securely.

For three hours, a steady stream of cars, 161 in all, brought their important papers to shred, for a suggested contribution of $10, and also donated nonperishable food items that the Social Committee collected to help The Community of Faith Food Panty provide sustenance during the holidays. Assistance League is extremely grateful to all who participated in this event and donated generously. Special thanks to chapter member, Maureen Dawson, for spear-heading this event, and to members, spouses and helpers who made sure the shredding truck was filled to capacity before it left. The charity also thanks Danielle and Soren, two teens earning their service hours, for their tireless efforts in collecting the donations and food that helped both causes. Assistance League also extends heartfelt gratitude to the Franklin Farm Foundation and Ginny George. Without their help, this event would not have occurred. Thanks also to Eco Shred for providing the truck and expert technician to handle the secure shredding of so many important documents.

It was a glorious day for all who came out, as can be seen in these photos.
