In response to the coronavirus, FCDOT directed riders to enter and exit Fairfax Connector buses from the rear doors starting on March 24. The move was made to protect the drivers of the bus from the spread of COVID-19. The directive does not affect riders who need to use the wheelchair ramp.
Since the fare boxes and SmarTrip equipment are located at the front of the buses, FCDOT also suspended fare collection during the pandemic.
