Fairfax Connector Enhanced Service Input Sought By County

RESTON, VA — Reston and Herndon residents will have another chance to weigh in on the preferred plan to provide enhanced Fairfax Connector bus service to the area. This will include connections to the future Metrorail stations currently under construction along the Silver Line.

Fairfax County Department of Transportation (FCDOT) is proposing a preferred service plan, which is based on input it received during 2019 from community engagement, technical analysis and stakeholder engagement. Once this final round of community engagement takes place, FCDOT will send its final preferred plan to the Board of Supervisors for approval.

Herndon and Reston residents can provide their input at these upcoming meetings:

• Hutchison Elementary School - 901 Locust St., Herndon - Saturday, March 21, 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. Meeting location is accessible via Fairfax Connector Route 926 and Route 937.
• South Lakes High School - 11400 South Lakes Drive, Reston - Wednesday, March 25, 7-9 p.m. Meeting location is accessible via Fairfax Connector routes RIBS 2 and Route 551.

Members of the public can also complete an online survey that will be open March 16-April 16. Citizens can also mail their comments to: Fairfax County Department of Transportation, 4050 Legato Road, Suite 400, Fairfax, VA 22033.

Service changes in the final plan will be implemented with the start of service and opening of the Phase 2 Metrorail Silver line stations: Reston Town Center Station, Herndon Station, Innovation Center Station, Dulles Airport Station, Loudoun Gateway Station and Ashburn Station.
