HERNDON, VA — The Town of Herndon held a groundbreaking ceremony Monday for a road project at Center and Elden streets in downtown Herndon.

The $1.4 million project, tied to the redevelopment of the historic downtown area, will include the addition of a traffic signal, a realigned intersection, new turn lanes, improved crosswalks and ADA pedestrian signals, and improved storm drainage.

According to the town, the project will assist with existing and future mixed-use residential development on Center Street. The project also will help pedestrians heading to the downtown area, including in the direction of the Herndon Fortnightly Library.
