The Herndon Foundation for the Cultural Arts has an immediate need for a new Executive Director with fundraising and management skills to lead the organization during a time of “exciting growth and transition.”

“The Executive Director is the key management leader of the Herndon Foundation for the Cultural Arts supporting the Foundation’s achievement of its mission. The Executive Director will ensure that the financial, administrative, and operational activities of the Foundation function professionally and in accordance with the organization’s mission and values.

“The Executive Director is responsible for implementing the strategic plan, raising funds, and directing staff in the administration of programs and operations. The ideal candidate will have five years of experience with fundraising and management responsibility, preferably as a President or Executive Director of a nonprofit or arts organization. “The Herndon Foundation for the Cultural Arts operates ArtSpace Herndon and provides leadership and advocacy for a permanent arts center in downtown Herndon.”

Professional Qualifications and Experience:

  • A Bachelors’ Degree and a minimum of five years of experience with fundraising and management responsibility, preferably as a President or Executive Director of a nonprofit or arts organization.
  • Proven record as a fundraiser and grant writer.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • A leader with experience managing staff and successful projects.
  • A creative, strategic thinker.
  • Strong management skills with the ability to leverage limited resources through effective delegation in order to manage multiple, competing priorities.
  • Able to build relationships across stakeholder groups and work in a team environment.
  • Must be computer literate and able to work with assurance in Word, Excel and web based applications and collaborate in a PC environment.
  • Familiarity with Northern Virginia business and arts community.
  • Passion for the arts and the role the arts play in a community.
