Herndon Mother Cares For Coronavirus Patients: Local Hero
A son nominates his Herndon mother as a Patch Local Hero for her work caring for coronavirus patients.

HERNDON, VA — It's fitting as Mother's Day 2020 approaches, Patch is honoring a mother who not only loves and cares for her children, but she's also helping to care for patients facing COVID-19, the illness associated with the new coronavirus, as a health-care worker at Inova Fairfax Hospital
If this pandemic has taught us anything, it's that the men and women who are on the front line of treating those infected with this illness are heroes. They're essential for a reason. Every day, they put their lives at risk for the betterment of our community.
Mother's Day also gives us the opportunity to recognize and thank the families of these front-line workers. They're sacrificing as well, as they share their loved ones with the rest of us.

Name of the person who nominated the hero:
Julian Guevara
Is the nominee considered an “essential worker”?:
Yes
What does the nominee do for work?:
She is a health care worker working at the Fairfax Inova hospital.
Why do you believe the nominee should be recognized or honored?
She has been working day and night, sometimes for 15 hours straight to help the hospital get through the COVID-19 pandemic. Often she gets home to greet us and rest, only to get called back to the hospital an hour later. She is one of the many health care workers fighting endlessly and tirelessly to help us get through these difficult times.
What’s one thing you want everyone to know about your hero?:
My mother is the hardest working human being I have ever known or seen. She has never given up or failed to succeed in the end, and she has taken care of me and my sister, shaping us into good humans for my entire 12 year life.
