Herndon Nats Fans Get Engaged At World Series Parade
A couple from Herndon decided to get engaged prior to the parade for the Washington Nationals.

A Herndon couple was caught up in the celebration of the Washington Nationals World Series victory, getting engaged hours before the parade kicked off on the National Mall on Saturday.
Jefferson Payne proposed to his girlfriend, Alyssa Hannah, at around 11:30 a.m. on Pennsylvania Avenue in front of the National Gallery of Art, according to the Washington Post.
The season ticket-holders embraced each other after the proposal, as jubilant Nats fans chanted and Hannah's mom waved a shark balloon.

Payne said they had been dating for four years, and he had initially wanted to propose in front of the Washington Monument but wanted to make sure they had a good parade spot, the Post reported.
The Nationals roared out to a 2-0 series lead in the World Series against the Houston Astros before getting swept in all three games at home. However, their road magic continued and they scored a victory in Game 6 and then came from behind in Game 7 late in the game to win the first ever Nationals World Series title, and the first in D.C. since 1924.

Since their victory last Wednesday, the Washington Nationals have celebrated with the Capitals, enjoyed a parade on the National Mall, and visited the White House where they stirred up a little bit of controversy.
