HERNDON, VA — After taking a year off due to COVID-19 restrictions, Rally In The Alley, the 24th anniversary party and Memorial Day Weekend bash, is returning Sunday to Jimmy's Old Town Tavern in Herndon.

"People can expect lots of good time, great music, great food," said Jimmy's manager Teegee Rogers. "We're doing ribs, hot dogs, burgers, live crabs, crawfish, lobster. We have live bands all day long, inside and outside."

Rogers wouldn't fathom a guess on how many people he thought would be attending this year's Rally in the Ally. If previous years are any indication, people will be coming and going all day long.

"We expect people to come in and enjoy a COVID-free Memorial Day," Rogers said.

Festivities begin at 9 a.m., when Jimmy's will be providing a complimentary breakfast for motorcyclists participating in the Rolling to Remember ride.

Following opening remarks at 9:45 a.m., in the Beer Garden, the ride will begin at 10 a.m., when the Herndon Police Department will escort riders out of town. The ride will then wend its way through Great Falls and down the George Washington Parkway toward Washington, D.C., ending at the Vietnam War Memorial Wall.

Riders will head out from the memorial at 1 p.m., and travel to Fair Winds Brewery, located at 7000 Newington Road in Lorton. They'll then ride back to Jimmy's at 2:30 p.m.

"Memorial Day is pretty much about live events and stuff like that," Rogers said. "We try to raise money for the veterans and show our appreciation. Operation Homefront is the one we're doing for this rally. We try to give back for what we take. The troops need their appreciation too."

Jimmy's is selling a special edition T-shirt, with the proceeds benefitting Operation Homefront, which provides assistance to military families in need.

Jimmies Old Town Tavern is located at 697 Spring St., in Old Town Herndon.
