Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issued Across NoVA, DC
The National Weather Service has issued an alert for DC and northern Virginia for thunderstorms that could bring hails and damaging winds.
WASHINGTON, DC — Steamy weather has the possibility of severe thunderstorms brewing in the DC region Saturday afternoon, resulting in an alert. A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for parts of northern Virginia and Washington, D.C., until 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 29.
Scattered thunderstorms may produce damaging wind gusts and large hail this afternoon through this evening. In addition, thunderstorms may produce heavy rainfall that lead to isolated instances of flooding.
A severe thunderstorm is one with winds of at least 58 mph and/or hail at least 1 inch in diameter, according to the National Weather Service's definition. A watch means conditions are favorable for the development of severe thunderstorms.

The following areas as well as Washington, D.C., are under the severe thunderstorm watch until 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 29: Arlington, Fairfax, Fauquier, Loudoun, Prince William and Stafford counties, along with Alexandria, Fairfax, Falls Church, Manassas, and Manassas Park.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 91. Northwest wind 9 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.
Sunday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 65. North wind 6 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph.
