Teen Bitten By Police Dog After Breaking Into Herndon High School

When the trespasser set off multiple alarms, police and K9 units responded to the scene.

A 17-year-old male was bitten by a dog when authorities responded to the scene after he broke into Herndon High School, setting off multiple motion alarms.

According to Fairfax County Police logs, the incident occurred between midnight and 1 a.m., early this past Sunday, Aug. 31.

Fairfax County Public Schools' security department said multiple motion alarms were set off inside the school, so the police were notified.

Police officers and a K9 team responded to the school and set up a perimeter around the outside. The K9 team went inside to check the buildings.

Police said the team located a 17-year-old male inside the school, who was found to be in possession of a set of interior door keys to the school. Police placed the teen under arrest, and found him to have been bitten by a dog.

Police called in a Fire and Rescue team to treat the boy's dog bite.

The teen was later released to his parents. Police said criminal charges are pending.
