SPRINGFIELD, VA — No one can turn down a lottery ticket as a Christmas gift, and sometimes that gift pays off in a big way. Last Christmas, a Springfield man's gift from his uncle turned into a top lottery prize.

"Is this really happening?" Harry Mejicanos thought as he scratched the ticket at his uncle's house and learned he won $300,000. The 19-year-old is the second top prize winner in the Virginia Lottery's Supreme Cash game. His winning ticket came from the 7-Eleven at 6625 Backlick Road in Springfield.

"It's crazy. I never thought in my life that I’d be doing this!" he told Virginia Lottery officials while claiming the prize.
