CAC Collecting Donations for Wounded Soldiers

The Citizen's Advisory Committee is accepting donations on behalf of Arms Outstretched Ministry.

As part of the events, the Franconia District Citizen's Advisory Committee (CAC) is collecting donations for Arms Outstretched Ministry from Monday, July until Friday, Aug. 10. 

Arms Outstretched Ministry is a nonprofit organization that was founded by a Fairfax County Police Officer, Michelle Humphries. The organization brings a hot meal and supplies to wounded soldiers at Bethesda Naval Hospital once a month. 

The CAC held a similar collection last year that raised $1,500 and much need supplies for Arms Outstretched Ministry.

Here is a list of items that are needed: 

  • Hygiene Kits:  
    • Shampoo
    • Conditioner
    • Soap
    • Washcloth
    • Shave cream
    • Razors
    • Toothpaste
    • Toothbrush
    • Mouthwash
    • Breath spray or mints
    • Lotion
    • Fingernail clippers
    • Toe nail clippers
  • Blankets (new)
  • Men’s magazines  
  • Paperback books
  • Bibles
  • Tracts
  • International calling cards
  • DVD’s
  • CD’s
  • Crossword puzzles
  • Homemade cards from children (Get Well or holiday greeting)
  • Blank greeting cards (for them to give to their families for holidays, birthdays, etc. when they are not able to buy a card)
  • Postage stamps (to mail letters to their unit overseas and to their families)
  • Writing tablets
  • Pens
  • Chewing gum  

The will serve as the primary donation center. National Night Out event organizers are encouraged to collect donations at their events as well.

Monetary donations are also accepted. Checks can be made out to Arms Outstretched Ministry, Inc., and receipts are available upon request.
