Free Fairfax School Meal Distribution Continues Through 2020
Free meals for students are distributed through bus routes and select school sites.
FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA — In accordance with a U.S. Department of Agriculture decision, Fairfax County Public Schools and other school districts can continue serving free meals to all children through Dec. 31, 2020. FCPS has been distributing grab-and-go meals since schools were ordered to close in March.
According to the school district, 2.4 million of these meals have been distributed since March. With the school year starting with a distance learning approach, meal distributions are continuing through bus routes and select school sites on weekdays.
All FCPS students and other Fairfax County children under age 18 can receive a free grab-and-go breakfast and lunch. Adults may obtain meals for $2. Meals typically include whole grains, fruits or vegetables, and low-fat or fat-free milk. The meals can be obtained Mondays through Fridays on bus routes and select school sites; meals for Saturdays and Sundays will be distributed at sites and on all bus routes each Friday.
