KINGSTOWNE, VA — A drive-thru Chick-fil-A proposal at Kingstowne Towne Center will be up for Fairfax County Board of Supervisors consideration later in January.

The location of the 5,200-square-foot restaurant with a drive-thru is 5810 Kingstowne Center, Suite 160, on the north side of Kingstowne Boulevard and west side of South Van Dorn Street. This would increase the number of permitted restaurants with drive-thrus at Kingstowne Towne Center from two to three.

"Staff does not find that the proposed additional drive-through will conflict with the existing drive-throughs nor adversely impact the circulation in the shopping center," reads a county staff report.

The Chick-fil-A would be located in an end unit of the building, which hosts other businesses such as My Gym and Dairy Queen. The rear would host the drive-thru pickup window, and there would be dual drive-thru lanes. Customers would reach the restaurant through the existing access points at Kingstowne Towne Center. The restaurant would require a redesign of parking field adjacent to the end-cap space to allow for the safe flow of traffic. New crosswalks are proposed between the parking and the restaurant.

The proposed restaurant could have 110 indoor seats and 54 outdoor seats. Based on other area restaurants, Chick-fil-A estimated around 1,300 customers per day, which includes around 800 using the drive-thru. Proposed hours are Monday through Saturday from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Chick-fil-A is closed on Sundays.

The Fairfax County staff report recommends approval of the restaurant, and the Fairfax County Planning Commission endorsed the proposal on Nov. 4. The Board of Supervisors is scheduled to have a hearing on the proposal at 3:30 p.m. on Jan. 26.
