Kingstowne Primary 2021: Voter Registration Deadline Approaches

The primary election is coming up for governor, lieutenant governor, and attorney general.

KINGSTOWNE, VA — As the June 8 Democratic primary approaches in Kingstowne, the voter registration deadline is Monday, May 17.

The primary will feature races for Virginia governor, lieutenant governor, and attorney general, and House of Delegates districts with multiple candidates. There are no primaries for the 39th and 43rd House of Delegates Districts, which cover the Kingstowne-Rose Hill area.

U.S. citizens in Virginia who will be 18 or older by the Nov. 2 general election are eligible to register to vote. Voter registration applications may be submitted online vote.elections.virginia.gov, in person weekdays at the Fairfax County Office of Elections (12000 Government Center Parkway, Suite 323, Fairfax), or downloaded and mailed to Fairfax County Office of Elections, P.O. Box 10161, Fairfax, VA 22038-8061.

Residents registered to vote should also update their address if needed at vote.elections.virginia.gov, by mail to the Fairfax County Office of Elections, P.O. Box 10161, Fairfax, VA, 22038-8061, by fax to 703-324-2205, or scanned with a signature and emailed to voting@fairfaxcounty.gov.

Early voting for the June 8 primary began on April 23 and will continue through Saturday, June 5. In-person early voting happens at the Fairfax County Government Center as well as satellite voting locations. An acceptable form of ID is required for in-person voting. All early voting locations are closed for Memorial Day, May 31.

Here are the early voting locations and hours:

Fairfax County Government Center: 12000 Government Center Parkway Suite 323, Fairfax, VA 22035

  • April 23-May 29: weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • April 24, May 1, and May 29: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • June 1-June 5: weekdays from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Another option is to vote by mail. Paper or online applications to vote by mail must be received by the Fairfax County Office of Elections by 5 p.m. on May 28. Completed absentee ballots must be returned to the Fairfax County Office of Elections by 7 p.m. on June 8, or mailed and postmarked by June 8 and received in the office by noon on June 11.

Absentee ballots may also be dropped off at an attended drop box outside the Fairfax County Government Center during business hours, early voting site during voting hours, or on June 8 at any polling place from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Where to vote on June 8

Voters who want to cast their ballot in person on June 8 can go to their assigned polling place from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. An acceptable form of ID is required for in-person voting. To find your polling place, visit www.elections.virginia.gov/citizen-portal. Residents can also see Fairfax County precinct maps at www.fairfaxcounty.gov/elections/precincts.
