Labor Day Weekend: Harvey Remnants Could Send Storms To Kingstowne

KINGSTOWNE, VA — Tropical Storm Harvey has devastated the Houston area over the last week, and it looks like the remnants of the storm could dampen the start of Labor Day weekend in Kingstowne.

It originally looked like the remnants of Harvey wouldn't make it out here until Sunday at the earliest, but the system appears to have sped up since then. Harvey remnants should make it out to the DC area as early as Friday afternoon, according to the Capital Weather Gang.

The Weather.com and National Weather Service forecasts for the Alexandria area shows a higher chance of rain appearing overnight. Rain could remain for part of the weekend but may clear up just in time for Labor Day. Here's the hour-by-hour overnight and Labor Day weekend forecasts.

Friday

3 p.m.-4 p.m. - Mostly cloudy with a 35 percent chance of rain.

5 p.m. - Mostly cloudy with a 15 percent chance of rain.

6 p.m. - 7 p.m. - Mostly cloudy with a 0 percent chance of rain.

8 p.m - 10 p.m. - Mostly cloudy with a 5 percent chance of rain.

11 p.m. - Mostly cloudy with a 25 percent chain of rain.

Saturday

Midnight - Showers could start. There's a 60 percent chance of rain.

1 a.m. - 75 percent chance of rain.

2 a.m. - 95 percent chance of rain.

3 a.m. - 4 a.m. - 90 percent chance of rain.

5 a.m. - 7 a.m. - 75 percent chance of rain.

Saturday: Rain is likely mainly before 2 p.m., then showers could follow after 2 p.m. with a high in the upper 60s. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Saturday night: Showers are likely, mainly before 2 a.m. with lows in the 60s. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Sunday

Sunday: A chance of showers is possible before 8 a.m. with temperatures not quite reaching the 80s. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.

Monday: The sun will come back out with highs in the 80s.
