Northern Virginia Weather: Mixed Bag For The Weekend
Northern Virginia will get a taste of both showers and sun during the weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

STERLING, VA—This weekend is shaping up to a battle between the clouds and sun in Northern Virginia. That's the word from the National Weather Service arm in Sterling. Friday night and Saturday could see rain drench the area.
Not only that, but temperatures will not be over-the-top hot, as often is the case this time of year. Instead, highs throughout the weekend will be in the low 80s. Things begin to change Sunday when the sun comes out again. Here's the latest forecast from the National Weather Service:

Friday Night: Expect showers and a possible thunderstorm before 2 a.m. It will be mostly cloudy with temperatures dropping to the low 7os. The chance of precipitation is 60 percent, and rainfall could be between a quarter and half of an inch.
Saturday: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm are possible after 8 a.m. The day will be mostly cloudy, with a high near 86. The chance of precipitation is 70 percent, and new rainfall amounts are between a tenth and quarter of an inch. Totals could be higher if a thunderstorm hits.

Saturday Night: Chances of rain begin to slim down by the evening. Skies will be mostly cloudy with temperatures dropping down to around 69. The chance of precipitation is 20 percent.
Sunday: The sun will return, with temperatures staying in the low 80s.
Sunday Night: Clouds will cool off temperatures to the high 60s.
Monday: Clouds will remain in the area, with highs in the 80s.
Monday Night: Chances of showers return. The night will be mostly cloudy with lows in the high 60s. The likelihood of precipitation is 30 percent.
Tuesday: Showers could continue, and thunderstorms are possible after 1 p.m. The day will be mostly cloudy with highs near the 80s. The chance of precipitation is 30 percent.
