Assistance League of Northern Virginia is pleased to have been selected by Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Springfield as a recipient of a Difference Makers Grant. Lynn Barron and Kathy Jackson accepted a check on behalf of Assistance League at the church’s Christmas Concert on December 15th along with other Difference Maker Grant recipients. The funds provided by this grant will be used to purchase clothing items for students at Garfield and Lynbrook elementary schools in Springfield as requested by school administrators based on individual student needs. School administrators report that the clothing provided by Assistance League of Northern Virginia helps improve students’ self-esteem and confidence and increases involvement in school activities.

Prince of Peace Lutheran Church allocates funds through The Difference Makers Grant Program to support individuals or small organizations that are making a continued impact for the good of others in Springfield or the wider Northern Virginia community. Assistance League of Northern Virginia appreciates the work of David Mahen, head of the church’s grant committee, as well as Gary Miller, liaison to Assistance League, for their work on behalf of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in coordinating the award to assist students at these two Springfield elementary schools. The new clothing items are greatly needed and will be much appreciated.
