State health department data shows an average of over 50,000 vaccine doses administered per day.
VIRGINIA — As COVID-19 vaccinations continue, a quarter of Virginia's population has the first vaccine dose.
As of Wednesday, Virginia Department of Health data shows 2,140,673 people have the first dose, or 25.1 percent of the population. There are 1,167,307 people fully vaccinated, or 13.7 percent of the population.
The percentages are based on an estimated Virginia population of 8.5 million. The Pfizer vaccine is only approved for individuals aged 16 and up, while the Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines are approved for ages 18 and up.

Social gatherings will be allowed up to 50 people indoors and 100 people outdoors, up from the current limit of 10 indoors and 25 outdoors. In addition, entertainment venues may operate at 30 percent capacity, or up to 500 people indoors —whichever is lower.
